Anxiety Therapist Chicago

You have a difficult time controlling the constant worrying. During the day, you’re exhausted. When you try to sleep, you lay in bed and feel overwhelmed with all of the thoughts, experiences, or emotions from the day that swirl around and keep you up at night. So what happens? You avoid going to bed because you know it’s yet another night where you won’t be able to sleep well. You experience chest pains. Your heart races. The cycle starts all over again the next day. You’re trying to keep it together for yourself and your partner, but it seems to be getting worse. You’re deteriorating before your eyes.

In my experience as an anxiety therapist, I've come to realize that you can't teach others lessons unless you've lived them yourself. This belief shapes my approach to therapy, as I draw from my own journey with anxiety to create a space where clients feel understood and supported in their struggles. Learning how to be with yourself and your emotions take time and patience. Together, we will create routines to help you manage your anxiety symptoms to foster genuine growth and healing.

How I can help!

As an anxiety therapist, I have first-hand experience living with anxiety and found ways to befriend (yes, you heard that right) this uncomfortable emotion. By practicing mindfulness together in the session, we will help you restore the connection between your body, mind, heart, and spirit, bringing harmony to the parts of you that have been at odds for a long time.

I never pressure you to share everything all at once. Together, we’ll create a safe space where the vulnerable parts of yourself can unfold naturally, free from the fear of letting yourself, me, or anyone else down. We’ll move at your pace, and I’ll regularly check in during our session to ensure you feel heard, understood, and respected. If something feels overwhelming on a particular day, we can set it aside and revisit it in a future session. There’s no rush—we’ll always start where you are in the moment.

With consistent support, you will begin to carve out your desired life, gradually building the confidence to express your true self. You will learn to get out of your shell and speak your truth. You will learn the beauty and strength of your vulnerabilities to help you to be more in-touch with yourself and others. You will learn the importance of boundaries and what it means to take up space. You will be free to explore different avenues of personal and professional growth. You may leave toxic and unhealthy situations or relationships to bring more balance and calm into your life.

When challenges arise, you will feel equipped to navigate them with resilience. You learn to sit comfortably with difficult emotions like fear, shame, guilt, and anxiety, no longer overwhelmed by them. Speaking up for yourself becomes not just a possibility, but a necessity you truly believe in because YOU are worth it.

I'm here to help you create a quiet space to reflect and give you permission to be unapologetically yourself.

Anxiety Therapy FAQs

  • The 3-3-3 rule is a grounding exercise often used to help you feel more connected to your body during moments of anxiety. It involves identifying 3 things you can see, 3 things you can touch, and 3 things you can hear. Grounding exercises like this are powerful tools for managing anxiety, and we can explore others together to find what works best for you.

  • There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but it’s essential to find a therapist you feel connected to—someone who is non-judgmental, open, and curious about how your anxiety shows up. The right fit fosters trust, independence, and resilience, helping you build stronger connections in your life.

  • That’s a great question! I believe therapy is a place to build additional support and foster trust in yourself and others. I often compare therapy to learning to ride a bike. At first, you might need training wheels—a steady foundation to help you feel secure and supported. Over time, as trust grows, the training wheels come off, and you gain the confidence to navigate life on your own. Therapy offers a space to explore those foundational supports and develop healthy attachments that can guide you forward.

  • That is such a great question!

It depends on the person, and especially how they feel towards their experience of anxiety. Everyone’s relationship with anxiety is unique, so it’s important to explore what resonates with you. Together, we can discover approaches that work best for you—whether it’s incorporating movement, mindfulness, creativity, or something else entirely.
